White Horse Tavern Details PleaseOpen for Dine In. Reservations required. What Our Friends Are Sayinggoop: "The food is of the delicious New England variety: Chef Rich Silvia sources local Rhode Island fish, meat, and vegetables to make traditional dishes like clam chowder, fish cakes, lobster macaroni & cheese, and clam boils. "AFAR: "You have to love a place with the motto 'Serving Hungry Newporters Since 1673.' The menu from the early days of this landmark tavern featured locally sourced produce and just-caught fish and seafood from the Narragansett Bay—not too different from today's lineup. (Some delicious additions, though, like a shrimp-and-pork-belly banh mi might confuse a time-traveling colonist.)"

It doesn’t really get more colonial than this. Not only is this the oldest restaurant in the U.S., it's also apparently the 10th oldest in the world. It originated in 1652, which probably means everyone who dined there had wooden teeth. All this to say that you should definitely make a point to have dinner here, for the history and the food.
