Churrería El Moro What Our Friends Are SayingBon Appetit: "Made with just flour, water, and salt, these churros are all crisp and chew, no puff: They’re the best in the city. The menu is simple—churros, eight types of hot chocolate, and the consuelo, an ice-cream sandwich with coiled churros on each end."Travel & Leisure: "El Moro now has several locations around the city, but a visit to the original—in operation since 1935—gives visitors a glimpse into a long-standing (and very sweet) tradition in the Centro Histórico neighborhood. Churros—dough that's piped onto boiling oil in gigantic swirling circles—are a Mexican treat. Once cooked through and crispy, a churero lifts the dough up with a pair of tongs and snips the circle into straw-length tubes that are then rolled in sugar. They're served, still hot, along with a dip of your choice: chocolate, caramel, or condensed milk. Want to go all out? Order a hot chocolate to accompany your churros. The service and setting are both old-school and charming at this spot, which is open 24 hours a day."
