Run by a young couple, Julie and Paco, Tamarin is easygoing by day, and more lively and convivial at night, when the expansive garden is lit, people have migrated to the foosball and ping pong tables, and the cocktails are flowing. Some tables are set in the garden itself, while others are sheltered under the main building and overlook lily-pad-lined ponds. The menu has a bit of everything: pan-fried foie gras, tuna tartare, chicken and hummus salad, and gambas a la plancha with soba noodles."Fodors: "A beautiful tropical garden with a truly wondrous tamarind tree shades the lounge chairs surrounding the palapa of the restaurant and gives it its name. There is even a lovely small boutique if you want to shop between courses. The lunch menu features sandwiches, sashimi, burgers, and simple grills. Dinner brings heartier plates including duck breast and veal roast. Don't miss the beautifully presented, enormous profiteroles for dessert. The service is attentive and friendly, and the wine list is excellent."
