If you're traveling to Ireland anytime soon, make sure you have these five hotels on your bucket list!
The truth is I searched high and low for some of the best places to stay in Ireland and this is the type of place that takes your breath away! This is a Marriott property and although rates can be quite high for Mount Juliet Estate, you can often find affordable rates dependent on the season. The stunning estates spans 1,500 acres and is set on a hill that overlooks River Nore. This property is best known for it’s incredible golf course, but you will also find horseback riding, archery, and skeet shooting.
Cahernane House Hotel is an elegant manor house built in 1877 and perfectly situated on the edge of Killarney National Park. Cahernane House Hotel provides a beautiful, peaceful resting stop. This 4 star hotel has 48 rooms across three wings. We stayed in the newly renovated Coach House and were blown away by the stunning new rooms. We didn’t want to leave the grounds after setting foot here, so we got dinner at their Cellar Bar. If you are looking for a more formal dinner, you will want to dine in their Herbert Restaurant. Complimentary continental breakfast is provided.
This is the type of place that feels like it only exists in dreams. Ballyseede Castle is truly an amazing hotel that provides such a special castle experience. Rates can be reasonable and breakfast is included. I recommend staying in the castle. We stayed in the castle junior suite and LOVED our room. If you love animals they have the sweetest dogs on the grounds including an Irish wolfhound named Molly. As a dog-lover myself I couldn’t help but give Molly all the pets!
Throw away everything you thought you knew about special amenities, because this hotel is packed full of amenities I didn’t think could even exist at a hotel! Every inch of this property feels like luxury and it can be easily argued this is one of the best hotel properties in Ireland!
Now let’s get started with my favorite amenity here: the ABBEY MOVIE THEATER. Complimentary film screenings are featured here both in the afternoon and evening with free popcorn. We watched Christmas with the Kranks when we were here and can attest the theater is very comfortable.
If you are seeking a truly magical dining experience make sure to make a reservation at the Pullman Restaurant.
The setting of this restaurant can be found inside two original train cars from the Orient Express that have been beautifully restored. Due to the unique nature of this dining experiences prices can be a little steep, two course meal for €63.00 and a three course meal for €72.00. If you are unable to secure a reservation or would just like to tour the train you can enter the train to tour the facilities before the restaurant officially opens at 5 pm. See my video tour here.
Another great amenity the hotel offers is complimentary bike rentals. Take the time to explore this beautiful estate by bike. The hotel can even arrange a picnic for you! You can also venture outside the hotel and explore more of Galway by bike. Additional activities found on the estate include golf and a driving range, falconry, fishing and horse riding.
The Powerscourt Hotel is apart of the Marriott autograph collection, so prices can be steep depending on when you visit but it’s worth the splurge! Some on-site amenities include spa facilities, golf, indoor pool and complimentary bike rentals.
While you are here make sure to head next door to check out the Powerscourt House & Gardens. The gardens have been ranked as the 3rd best gardens in the world by National Geographic! The gardens are SO STUNNING! There are beautiful walkways and scenic spots that fill this garden, and you will quickly realize why National Geographic considers this one of the most beautiful gardens in the world.
We regret spending so little time here, especially after learning about all the wonderful things that can be done around this area. See my list below:
