There’s nothing like warming yourself up in the winter with a trip to a sunny destination. And let’s be honest – even if you already live in a relatively warm destination, you know you’re looking for any excuse to travel (or at least we are).
Whether you’re looking for a quick weekend of fun in the sun or a full-on vacation, these are the 5 destinations you might find us this winter.
If bright blue waters and white sand beaches are your thing (they’re sure ours) and you’re looking to add another stamp to your passport, look no further than the island of Aruba. A perfect day here can include sunbathing on Eagle Beach, strolling through the colorful capital of Oranjestad, or scuba diving near famous shipwrecks. If you decide to relax all day, don’t forget to enjoy some of Aruba’s nightlife from cocktail bars to beach clubs.
Waterfalls, national parks, and a seven-mile beach? Um… sign us up! Jamaica is truly an island adventure, touting the perfect mix of beach bliss, stunning nature, and exciting activities. When you’re not laying on the beaches of Montego Bay or Negril, you’ll have the chance to explore Dunn’s River Falls or Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park, or even sneak in a round of golf on one of the island’s 10 different courses.
A trip to the Florida Keys will be the key (see what we did there) to making it through the winter season. Although you can fly directly into Key West, there’s something special about the drive from Miami down U.S. Highway 1: Picture you and your crew cruising down a highway surrounded by Caribbean waters. And if you need pitstop recommendations, we definitely suggest a stop at Robbie’s on Islamorada for lunch – and to of course to feed the tarpon.
Looking for an underrated, up-and-coming escape? Cartagena, Colombia is just that. You can explore this colorful, coastal, and oh-so-charismatic city in just 72 hours, making it the perfect winter weekend trip. Plus, there are plenty of beaches, history, and city life for anyone to explore, whether you're staying solo, with a significant other, or with a group of friends.
We don’t think we need to convince you to spend some time on the beaches of Mexico, but we’ll do it anyway. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the jungle paradise of Tulum is probably on your radar. Known for its white-sand beaches and well-preserved Mayan ruins, Tulum gives you the opportunity to soak up sun, history, and nightlife all in one trip. And if you want to add a bit of adventure to your getaway, a day trip to swim in a cenote is a must.
