Century City might not be top of mind when thinking about your visit to LA, but the Fairmont Century Plaza just might change your thinking.
This unsuspecting stunner is situated on Avenue of the Stars smack dab between Westwood and Beverly Hills (just behind the Fox lots).
Depending on the time of day you arrive, this property could be wearing a very different facade. Its daytime look is airy and breezy, with floor-to-ceiling accordion doors set along the entry windows. The lobby bar wasn’t overlooked, as is often the case at most properties.
Interior colors are neutral and earth tones are used as accents. The bar is elevated, central, and adorned with white orchids that make the baby grand piano feel right at home.
We opted for a 1 bedroom suite, as we both had meetings the next morning and wanted a dedicated workspace, and our west-facing room did not disappoint. The double balconies and a door that separated the living room from the bedroom were just a few of the things that made this suite perfect for our needs.
And let's be honest, a fancy hotel bathroom can totally elevate your entire experience, and ours did not disappoint.
As if the suite couldn't get any better, LA showed off with a stunning sunset, which felt like a curtain call for this hotel to change into her nighttime garb.
Her evening look is draped in red lights, and we had front-row seats when we ventured over to the (absurdly) nearby Westfield Mall. If you’re anything like me, the word “mall” might make you cringe – but I promise, you’re going to be okay. This outdoor walking mall is well-styled and organized, making it feel more like an extension of the city than a concrete eyesore.
The fountain out front features a sculpture designed by Spanish artist, Jaume Plensa, and is aptly named Laura. While I think this drew me to her, it’s worth a step outside to marvel at her sheer size during your stay.
Whether you visit for dinner or in our case, breakfast, the french restaurant Lumière is a must-visit – especially since it's located just off the lobby. But first, we have coffee in bed.
After savoring each sip of coffee along with some stunning views from bed, we kicked off breakfast with americanos and some fruit before diving headfirst into their scrambles and fresh bread.
In addition to the wonderful rooms and restaurant, the property has just as wonderful staff. The Century Plaza definitely approaches guest stays with old-school hospitality, and being a Well Traveled member elevated every aspect of our time there. I highly suggest this property if you’re looking for a clean, simplistic, and calm atmosphere with walkable stores nearby.
Message me if you have any questions about this spot!
xx Laura
