What if I told you that you could find a trendy, tropical oasis in the heart of NYC?
Set beside the Soho Grand Hotel, Gilligan’s Outdoor Bar + Restaurant is a hip summer hangout spot serving locally sourced seafood, beachy cocktails, and all the island vibes. Their expansive outdoor space is open seasonally from May to early October, so now’s the perfect time to grab some drinks and grub with the gals before summer slips away!
My friend and I recently visited Gilligan’s for the first time and were instantly greeted by palm trees, tiki lights, and laid-back energy. As NYC locals, finding somewhere that takes you away from the bustling city for a few hours is always appreciated, and this was the ideal island escape.
We took a seat at our table and were immediately greeted by our amazing server, Alexi, who had incredible energy and recommendations. He suggested we start with the frozen watermelon margaritas, a clear crowd favorite according to him. It took a single sip to see why: it was refreshing, balanced, and blended to perfection.
Every dish that came after was absolutely delicious. All of their seafood is locally sourced from farmers on Long Island, and I was beyond impressed with the lobster, fish, and oysters. But if seafood isn’t your thing, they also offer a variety of other menu items such as stone oven pizzas and grilled skirt steak– the squash blossom pizza was our personal fave. To top it all off, we ordered the brownie with homemade ice cream and were completely on cloud nine.
Whether you’re looking for a different kind of date night or a laid-back outing with your friends, make sure to add Gilligan’s to your must-see spots in Soho, NYC!
