As a Belgian girl, Amsterdam is one of the closest cities for me to travel to and/or work in, and it quickly became a city that has a special place in my heart. I have lived in Amsterdam three times over the last ten years, allowing me to witness the city grow into its vibrant self. Each time I was there, a new spot captured my interest, so I'd love to share some of my favorite places that have been there for ages- or at least the past decade!
Starting with my all-time favorite, Little Collins, located in the lovely neighborhood of De Pijp. The latter is a location I've visited over a dozen times and is a must-do! It's a mix of Middle Eastern cuisine with European flavors, and I swear to God, it tastes like heaven. They serve the best coffee, and their menu is ever-changing, which makes being a regular there more fun. Their sister restaurant, Collins-West, located in the western part of the city, is amazing as well!
Once you walk out of Little Collins, you may see the Albert Cuypmarkt, but leave it for what it is and be on your way to Gerard Doustraat. This street is in the top five of my favorite places to shop, and I know you'll enjoy exploring all the little streets and other shops that surround it. If you're into lingerie, visit Love Stories Archive. This Amsterdam-based lingerie brand has its own archive store, where you can buy previous collections at a discounted price.
One morning, you'll have to visit the Scandinavian Embassy, a minimalistic breakfast bar. I suggest you order a flat white to-go and then take a little stroll in Sarphatipar, where on sunny days, you can dream the day away with the sound of the city in the background.
Have a laidback day and enjoy this beautiful city!
