With sunny days, balmy nights, and a penchant for partying, Madrid's beautiful cityscape is best seen from one of its many rooftop bars (preferably, with a cocktail in hand.) Here are the five best rooftops in Madrid known amongst locals and tourists alike.
This market is very similar to the famous Mercado San Miguel, but this is more of a local spot. It has half the number of tourists and it has a rooftop bar. The space is smaller, so arriving before the late dinner rush helps guarantee rooftop seats. Enjoy delicious tapas, a glass of tinto de verano, and watch the sunset.
A cultural institution that has been going on for almost 150 years that hosts everything from movies and plays to visual art exhibitions, philosophical discussions, and workshops. If you plan on attending one of the many cultural events at night, head up to the rooftop around sunset to enjoy a cocktail. Take in the breathtaking views of Madrid before enrichening your mind downstairs.
Madrid's love of partying is well known, and Radio Bar is a lively addition to the scene. This bustling rooftop bar is great for groups. A mixture of hotel guests and locals come to drink and dance the night away, while local and international DJs spin until the early morning.
On the 4th-floor roof of the EDITION hotel, you'll find an urban jungle within a brightly colored greenhouse with stained glass chandeliers. This is the lush setting of the Peruvian restaurant Oroya. The food here is delicious and somehow the cocktails are even better. Outside of the greenhouse is Madrid's largest outdoor pool with reservable cabanas and a vine-covered terrace patio. The perfect setting for brunch or a late-night dinner.
It's hard to say what we love most here because everything, including the food, service, aesthetics, and views are just that good. Serving a contemporary twist on traditional Andalusian cuisine, the food is fresh without sacrificing complexity. The seasonal cocktail menu is inspired by the different dances of the region. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion in Madrid or have a bougie moment, this is the rooftop for it.
