Netflix's hit series Outerbanks is back and better than ever, and if you're:
1. Travel-savvy
2. As big of a fan of the show as we are
then you're probably itching to explore some of the show's iconic film sites, many of which were actually filmed in South Carolina – not the actual Outerbanks located in North Carolina. Well, we've made it easy to live the Pogue life by putting together some of the film spots we plan to check out on our next trip down south.
Look who's finally catching up on their Netflix binges! If you're an Outer Banks fan, you know that the lighthouse is the OG MVP of the show. This baby is the holy grail of clues in season 1, leading the gang on a wild goose chase that eventually brings them closer to their treasure. And let's be real, the Hunting Island Lighthouse is absolutely stunning!
If you want to catch some of the boating action from Outer Banks, head on over to Shem Creek - that's where most of the action was filmed! And let's not forget that you'll also get treated to one of the best sunset views around. It's a win-win situation!
Did Sarah's family's stunning waterfront home leave you with some serious house envy? Don't worry, you're not alone! That dreamy house has left us all swooning and wishing we could move right in.
Psst, want to know a little secret? The country club where the Kooks' Midsummer Night's soiree was filmed is actually a stand-in location. But don't worry, we won't tell if you won't!
Attention all shopaholics! If you're looking for a wardrobe upgrade like John B and Sarah from Outer Banks, then head on over to Ben Silver. It's the store that helped them look fresh before their big trip to UNC Chapel Hill (okay, okay, we know it was actually filmed at the Gaillard Center - but let's keep that between us, okay?).
Well, well, well, look what we have here! The legendary Dunes West Golf & River Club - the same spot where the hot summer nights came alive with the magical outdoor movie theatre on the Outer Banks.
After jumping off the ferry, Sarah and John B sauntered through Washington Square Park. This is one of Charleston's best-kept secrets, but now it's all yours.
So that supposed Kildare County Sheriff’s Station you see on Outer Banks? Turns out it's just a condo building at 281 Venning Street. But here's the kicker - it's in the charming Old Village of Mount Pleasant, surrounded by adorable shops and restaurants that you've definitely spotted in the background.
Kiara's folks' joint, The Wreck, isn't just called that for show - it's the real deal! This laid-back spot over in Shem Creek dishes out the freshest catch of the day, cooked up in classic Lowcountry style, and served on good old paper plates.
