Getting a new puppy can be one of the most exciting things to experience if you’re a dog lover. The anticipation of picking up your new member of the pack is exciting and to be honest a little scary. Add into the mix a 2-day road trip from Zagreb, Croatia to Berlin, Germany you need to plan to find a suitable pet-friendly hotel.
We selected 25hours Royal Bavarian because we knew they had a great pet policy. The hotel provides all guests with pets a bed, dog bowl for food and water. There is a fee of 20 euro per stay and only one dog allowed in your room. I would suggest calling any hotel in advance to confirm you’re traveling with a dog as a simple courtesy as often they allocate certain rooms for the four-legged guest.
The only drawback of this hotel was the parking. As we arrived by car, we were instructed to park across the road in a public parking building, from there we had to walk our luggage over to the hotel. During our visit it was snowing at the time, therefore it was a little inconvenient but not a deal breaker. However, the hotel is located opposite the Munich Central train station so if you arrive by train its location is very convenient.
The hotel offers free bikes to use to explore and is within walking distance to the city center. As we were traveling with a new pup, we opted to explore on foot and stay close to the hotel as it was still the middle of winter and snowy.
When it came to dinner, it was an easy choice with the onsite restaurant Neni as we didn’t want to leave our new puppy alone on his first night with us. It’s described as having “impressions of Israeli, Romanian, and Spanish cuisine with local influences,” and as you can guess, it had an interesting menu. Meals are designed to share so we selected a range of dishes from Korean fried chicken to pulled beef burger and beet salad. Setting up a picnic in our room we ended the night with a fully belly of tasty food and a sleeping puppy.
We stayed in one of the large rooms and opted for a king size bed. My husband’s 6’4” so something as simple as having the option for a larger bed is always a preference for us. Our new puppy Ludo has a big comfy bed of his own and surprisingly slept through the night without much of a peep.
Overall, it was a successful first hotel stay and road trip with our new puppy and I'm happy to report it was the first of many.
