Imagine hiking up to a cascading waterfall, floating down a river surrounded by lush tropical forests, and immersing yourself in village life with locals. This is exactly what you can expect from an excursion with River Tubing Fiji: An unforgettable adventure in the heart of Fiji.
River Tubing Fiji is a locally-owned and operated family business that takes you on a journey along the Navua River, located on the breathtaking "main island" of Viti Levu. The tour includes a boat ride, a visit to a Fijian village, a swim in a stunning waterfall, a delicious picnic lunch, and a fun tubing experience down the river.
When we signed up for the tour, we hit the jackpot – we were the only group that day, so we had the river all to ourselves (minus a few local fishermen). Our group of four was accompanied by four friendly and knowledgeable Fijian guides who made sure we had the time of our lives.
Our adventure began with a scenic boat ride upstream, where we were treated to breathtaking views of waterfalls and learned about the lush foliage that makes up Fiji's landscape.
Our first stop was the village of Sabata, where we were welcomed with open arms by the friendly locals. We were guided through the village, learned about the Fijian way of life, and even got the opportunity to participate in a traditional Kava ceremony in the home of the village chief. We also had the chance to walk through their gardens, handpicking fresh herbs to have later with our picnic lunch.
After our village visit, we hopped back on the boat and headed downstream to a stunning waterfall where we were able to take a refreshing swim and indulge in a picnic lunch. We were the only ones at the waterfall, giving us the chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Fiji without any crowds. One of our guides even showed off his daredevil skills by jumping from an impossibly high cliff into the water!
Finally, it was time to tube. We climbed onto our tubes and floated down the river, taking in the beautiful scenery and chatting with our guides. It was a great opportunity to learn more about Fijian culture and the daily lives of the locals.
Overall, our experience with River Tubing Fiji was nothing short of amazing. The scenery, culture, and adventure combined to create an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Viti Levu.
