Austin is a beautiful city in the heart of Texas with such a variety of experiences for a diverse group of people. One of the best ways to experience Austin authentically is to follow the music! Here is my "two-step" guide to locals-loved spots in ATX.
A Johnny Cash tribute dive bar with ice cold beer and happy people! The staff is incredible and will give you a friendly Texan welcome. There is great BBQ and a nice patio out back.
Friendly crowd, occasional live music and known for a wide variety of ages in guests. A locals go-to spot. Depending on the night you might expect a $10 cover for the band. Always worth it!
A true honky tonk experience with a cool outdoor space. Make sure you plan to be there for Chicken Shit Bingo. A local favorite and so much fun!
Stubbs has an amphitheater on a picturesque hill that slopes down to the stag. Beautiful trees and lighting. Guaranteed authentic Texas live music experience! Plus, you can get you some true Texas BBQ while you're there. Pet friendly!
One of the coolest spots in ATX. Beer, coffee, live music, famous pastries and authentic taco food trucks. Good for kids & pet friendly!
This place has it all! Cocktails, coffee, beer and food trucks in a beautiful garden setting. The inside is also gorgeous and a great place to be productive, if needed!
Located right next to the public swimming hole, Deep Eddy, the Cabaret is a local favorite. Always has a jukebox going, people playing pool and a fun atmosphere. They are right next to Pool Burger, which is an airstream trailer with amazing burgers and cocktails. **waygu beef and homemade buns!!
This is probably one of the best places to experience the Texan 'two-step' dance scene! Famous for the honky tonk atmosphere, ice cold beer and amazing chicken fried steak!
This is one of my absolute favorite spots in all of Texas. It's enchanting hill country vibe + the classic ranch style home really gives you the authentic Texas vibes. The cider is incredible - more dry and crisp rather than sweet - and they have food pairings to go with them (hummus, cheese, meats, etc). Great outdoor space. Kid & dog friendly!
A Texas favorite!! It's BYOB and cash only but the food and the atmosphere is absolutely worth it! A rustic setting with great live music. This is a great way to experience the beauty of the hill country outside of the city and experience authentic Texas BBQ! Plus, if you make your way out here - there are multiple wineries in the area, all of which have some of the best wine in Texas!
